This summer, Whole Theatre presents: a new play, a one woman show, "Cry of the Mountain, a documentary play about Mountaintop Removal in Appalachia", conceived and performed by Adelind Horan. Every Thursday in July, 2010. This is wonderful and simple piece of theatre/performance art, in which Adeline portrays people involved with and affected by Mountaintop Removal in Appalachia. The characters are performed verbatim from interviews she conducted last summer while volunteering with iLoveMounations.org. One performer, thirteen characters. Funny, intimate, simple, bold. One by one the stories of the people unfold into an intertwined ecosystem as rich and complex as mountains themselves. Adelind moves elegantly between characters with the poise of performer like Anna Deavere Smith. Come to “Cry of the Mountain” prepared to enjoy the power of live theatre, the freedom of laughter, the pleasure of a banjo on a front porch, and the desire to save a mountain. Cry of the Mountain
Hope to see you there.
More special events to be announced soon, so stay tuned!! If you are interested in hosting an event at Four County Players, please contact theatermanager@fourcp.org. |
